Introduction

Café Solidario was founded to bring together small coffee producers in northern Peru with a shared goal of improving quality and income. By fostering collaboration and sustainable practices, the initiative has grown into a strong network of farmers. Today, it supports hundreds of producers while advancing environmental and social responsibility.

How it Started

Founded on June 13, 2017, Café Solidario began as an initiative to unite 85 coffee growers in Tabaconas, San Ignacio. The initial goal was to promote sustainable practices and improve the members' living conditions, bringing together 80 small producers who, driven by initiatives to strengthen their household income, needed to prepare their coffee to enhance yield and quality in order to meet international standards.

Today, the organization has grown significantly and now brings together 320 producers across the districts of Jaén, Tabaconas, El Huabal, and Cutervo.

Their Approach and Philosophy

Café Solidario’s mission is to lead the management and marketing of traceable coffee from Cajamarca while fostering sustainable development and responsible agriculture. Rooted in solidarity, equity, respect for the environment and community commitment, the association includes women and men representing over 440 families.

The association holds international certifications and aims to be nationally and internationally recognized for its excellence and strong governance.
